What is Comparable to the 2022 Subaru Forester?

The 2022 Subaru Forester is a crossover SUV that is comparable to the Toyota RAV4, Ford Bronco Sport, Honda CR-V, and Mazda CX-50.  The RAV4 has marginally better fuel efficiency ratings, but the Forester offers higher cargo capacity and standard all-wheel drive at a lower price. A Ford Bronco Sport also costs more than a Subaru Forester, with the Forester outperforming the Bronco Sport in fuel efficiency and cargo space.  The Honda CR-V has slightly more cargo space than the Subaru Forester, but the Forester has an edge in off-road driving, safety features, and infotainment, and once again coming in at a lower price.

How are the 2022 Subaru Forester and the Mazda CX-50 similar?

This past November, Mazda announced the debut of a new model, CX-50, which is a more rugged version of their CX-5 crossover SUV model.  Since the Subaru Forester has proven itself as a top-rated, reliable crossover SUV, many are sizing the two up to see how they compare. The CX-50 comes standard with a 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder engine that achieves 187 horsepower and 186 pounds of torque.  2022 Subaru Foresters are equipped with the 2.5-liter, 4-cylinder boxer engine that gets up to 182 hp and 176 pounds of torque.   Although the fuel economy for the CX-50 has not been published, the 25/31mpg (city/highway) of the CX-5 is close to that of the Forester, 26/33mpg.

What are the Differences Between the 2022 Subaru Forester and the Mazda CX-50?

Are Subaru Foresters Reliable?

According to Consumer Reports, the Forester is rated as the most reliable Subaru vehicle alongside the Outback. The 2022 Subaru Forester ranked as one of the top three most dependable compact SUVs by J.D. Power, due to its safety, durability, and fuel efficiency. High-quality body hardware, exhaust, and fuel systems contribute to this rating, as well as a lack of engine and transmission issues. With proper care and maintenance, Subaru Forester owners see an average lifespan of 200,000-250,000 miles, and some even break the 300,000 mark. This equates to 13-20 years of service with a 15,000-mile yearly average.

Is the 2022 Subaru Forester Worth Buying?

The 2022 Subaru Forester is one of the highest-rated compact crossover SUVs for many reasons and has a lot of value packed into an affordable price. The Forester's design is built around Subaru's ring-shaped steel reinforcement frame, which is able to take quite a bit of force without breaking in the event of a collision.  Even more, safety is offered with the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology that comes standard with every 2022 Subaru Forester.  This collection of features uses the latest in automated driving technology to maintain safe following distances, cruise control speeds, and lane centering.  Buying a Forester can be a sound investment, not only due to its practicality and longevity but also because it has an above-average resale price.  In 2021, the Subaru Forester was awarded "Best Compact SUV Resale Value" by Kelley Blue Book.
