Will the 2022 Subaru Forester be Redesigned?

Subaru's six-model lineup for the 2022 Subaru Forester gives a makeover to the Forester's familiar trim models, and introduces the new Wilderness trim option, designed for enhanced off-road capabilities.  All models have a thicker front bumper, a redesigned grille, and sharper LED headlights.  The 2022 Forester Premium model now comes with 12.4-inch front brake rotors, which were previously only included in higher trims.  The roof rails on the Forester have been changed to a ladder-type design, bringing the driving weight capacity up to 220 lbs., up from 176 lbs. on earlier models.  The static load capacity now reaches up to 800 lbs., making it safe to use a roof top tent.

The new Wilderness trim option for the 2022 Subaru Forester is designed with higher ground clearance, a tougher suspension system, upgraded drivetrain, and many more features to make it possible to tackle rough roads and weather.  All-wheel drive, X-mode with options for snow/dirt and deep snow/mud, and a 180-degree front view camera give you complete control over the terrain you are traveling.

What Changes Will the 2022 Subaru Forester have?

All models of the 2022 Subaru Forester lineup will receive the fourth generation of Subaru's EyeSight driver assist technology.  This technology includes features like pre-collision braking, advanced adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and sway warning.  2022 Subaru models with EyeSight driver assist technology also include automatic emergency steering and an improved stereo camera, which enhances all of these safety features.

The 2022 Subaru Forester Wilderness showcases even more design changes from previous Forester models.  The Wilderness option comes with 17-inch matte black alloy wheels with Yokohama Geolander All-Terrain tires, anodized copper trim, and an exclusive Geyser Blue exterior color.  Along with increased ground clearance, the front, rear, and ramp breakover angles are all increased, making it the most capable Forester to take off-road.

Subaru Forester Reliability

The Subaru Forester has always been built to be a functional, efficient, and reliable vehicle.  The 2022 Forester is no different, coming standard with all-wheel drive, the balanced Subaru Boxer engine, and a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), all of which provide a smooth ride.  Depending on the model, the 2022 Subaru Forester has a cargo capacity of 26.9 to 28.9 cubic feet with rear seats up, and 69.1 to 74.2 cubic feet with the seats down.  The cabin interior also provides plenty of passenger space, with 39.4 inches of legroom for rear passengers.  The 2022 Forester achieves 26 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway, making it a fuel efficient choice as well.

The base model of the 2022 Subaru Forester starts at $25,195.  The Forester Premium is priced from $28,195, adding an All-Weather Package with heated front seats, Subaru Starlink Safety and Security, and Keyless Access with Push-Button Start.  The 2022 Forester Touring is equipped with 18-inch black finish alloy wheels, SI-DRIVE engine management system, and blind-spot detection/rear cross-traffic alert, starting at $29,765.

The Forester Wilderness, designed to take on all types of off-road adventures, starts at $32,820.  Leather trimmed upholstery, Dual-Zone automatic climate control, and a power rear gate are some of the additional features of the Forester Limited, starting at $31,875.  The 2022 Subaru Forester Touring sits at the top of the price list for this year's Forester lineup, starting at $35,295.  The Forester Touring model is equipped with Subaru Starlink Multimedia Navigation, DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System, and a 10-way power driver's seat and 8-way power front passenger seat.

Is the 2022 Subaru Forester worth Buying?

The 2022 Subaru Forester has a reputation for top safety scores, ample cabin space, and strong resale value.  The Forester has been a multiple recipient of the Kelley Blue Book 5-Year Cost to Own title.  This is the total amount of vehicle-related costs you are estimated to incur during the first 5-years of ownership.  The affordable purchase price, low out of pocket costs for maintenance and repairs, and slow value depreciation give the Subaru Forester the high marks necessary for this title.

The Subaru Forester has an estimated lifespan between 200,000 to 250,000 miles.  With a 15,000 mile per year average, this equates to a 13-17 year life span.  The 2021 Subaru Forester was also awarded Kelley Blue Book's Best Compact SUV Resale Value Award.  It has a projected resale value of 45%, putting it at the top of its class.  Whether you plan to keep your Forester for its entire lifespan, or trade it in for a newer model down the road, the 2022 Subaru Forester is a sound investment.
