Safety
Superior safety features are the hallmark of the Subaru brand, and the Legacy is no exception. Subaru EyeSight is a driver assistance technology that comes with safety features like lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automated emergency braking. A similar safety package is now standard on the Fusion as well. The Legacy comes with LED Steering Responsive Headlights, which turn with the car for greater coverage and safety. Another great feature that you will find on the Legacy is standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, which helps to create better stability and allows the Subaru to react quickly in all conditions.

Interiors & Technology
The interior is a very important part of any vehicle. For a mid-size car, it can be the make-or-break point. With a smaller interior that lacks enough legroom or trunk space, even short trips can feel uncomfortable. Luckily, both the Legacy and the Fusion provide ample space. Both sedans are similar in size, although the Fusion is a little bit longer and has a slightly wider wheelbase compared to the Legacy. The Subaru Legacy has more options for passengers than the Fusion, however, with optional heated rear seats and rear USB ports. Technology is where the two cars diverge even further. The Legacy comes standard with STARLINK Multimedia, which includes Pandora, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Fusion only comes with Bluetooth, and its multimedia is optional rather than standard.
Performance
With standard features like All-Wheel Drive and a standard CVT transmission on each model, the Legacy is a smooth and powerful car. The standard four-cylinder engine and 182 HP make the Legacy a great base model sedan and the upgraded models come with even more horsepower. Additionally, the Legacy offers a combined gas mileage of 29 mpg, with a total of 34 mpg for highway travel, which outstrips the Fusion by quite a bit. The Fusion has a V6 engine to thank for reducing its overall fuel efficiency, and although it provides the option of a turbocharged engine, this will also contribute to lower gas mileage. The Subaru offers durability to its drivers, with a majority of Subarus staying on the road longer than other cars. The award-winning technology and all the standard features that are available on the Legacy combine to create a mid-size sedan that offers safety and efficiency. Though the Fusion has come a long way the Legacy simply has more to offer.
