Subaru X-MODE® Overview
Subaru X-MODE® works in conjunction with the Subaru Symmetrical AWD system to keep you in control, even in treacherous conditions. The AWD system continuously monitors your wheels’ traction and redirects engine power when slippage is detected. When activated in extra-challenging driving conditions, Subaru X-MODE® makes additional intelligent adjustments to help you maintain control.
Using the System
It’s quick and convenient to turn on Subaru X-MODE®. You can either press the switch marked “X-MODE®” on your center console or press the icon on your infotainment screen. Keep in mind, models may differ, so check your owner’s manual to ensure you know how to activate the system.
Using the X-MODE® Dual Mode System
Select Subaru models are equipped with the Subaru X-MODE® Dual Mode System, which has additional features, so it differs slightly. You’ll need to choose between the Snow/Dirt or Deep Snow/Mud settings on the center console or on the touchscreen.
Turning it Off
An indicator light will stay illuminated on your dashboard as long as the system is activated. Your screen will also let you know how your vehicle is being affected, including your wheels, anti-lock braking system, steering angle, and more. To turn it off, simply press the button again to deactivate it and the indicator light will turn off.
