If you love spending your free time exploring the great outdoors in your Subaru, you are in luck. Subaru has launched a new sub-brand called “Wilderness” which promises to take your favorite Subaru Outback and Forester models to the next level.

What is the Wilderness Sub-brand from Subaru?

If you already thought Subaru was the best brand for adventure driving, you were right. But now Subaru is doubling down on its reputation for first-class off-roading by creating a rugged new sub-brand called Wilderness. Subaru Wilderness editions of the Outback and Forester are coming soon and will appeal to Subaru’s hard-core fans who want to go straight from the dealer to the unpaved trail without shopping a la carte for off-roading accessories.

What will the Wilderness package include?

A couple of the most exciting features of the Subaru Wilderness sub-brand are a raised suspension and chunky tires that can handle any bumps in the road you encounter. Wilderness Outback and Forester will have even more ground clearance than the generous, top-of-class 8.7 inches that was already standard across all Subaru models. With that kind of ground clearance and those kinds of tires, there will be few places the Wilderness can’t travel, unless you plan to traverse a field of boulders, which is not recommended for anyone ever! The exterior of the Subaru Wilderness vehicles will also get an adventure makeover with beefed-up body cladding and skid plates. Expect more standard off-roading gear and additional terrain modes from X-Mode as well.

What will the Subaru Wilderness Package Mean for Drivers who Enjoy Off-Roading?

Owning a Subaru Wilderness vehicle means that the sky is the limit when it comes to driving your Subaru. No trail is off-limits. No adventure is too adventurous. Subaru’s outdoor-loving customers spoke, and Subaru delivered a vehicle that is all Subaru, just moreso. Those who invest in Wilderness versions of the Outback and Forester will be able to do what they love easier, better, and with Wilderness style and functionality that leaves no doubt about what they like to do on the weekends.

What Kind of Driver will Enjoy the Wilderness Sub-Brand Most?

Hungry for adventure. Most likely to spend the weekend at places where there are no mints on the pillow. Sees sign with dangerous curves ahead and smiles. Thinks no pavement is no problem. All of these statements could apply to the kind of driver likely to invest in the Subaru Wilderness versions of the Outback and Forester. Patrick Wergin, chairman of the Subaru National Retailer Advisory Board explains, “We’re hoping that the Wilderness edition will attract customers that are active lifestyle families and that do like to go out and maybe do a little bit more off-roading. We’re excited about the opportunity to have this vehicle capture new clients in the segment.”
