Did you know that 515,000 children in Pennsylvania live in poverty without the everyday essentials that most of us take for granted, like a warm winter coat? In fact, 39% of children in the Philadelphia region are living below the poverty level. In 2006, Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation designed Driving Away the Cold in an effort to provide local children in our region a warm coat to wear during the winter months.

With the help of Operation Warm, a PA non-profit that provides new warm coats to children in need, Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation is able to provide underprivileged children new coats, who would otherwise go without.

For the past several years, the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation has been able to provide underprivileged children with the gift of a new coat to warm their body and reminds them that they are important. These children also will receive two warm meals at school, while they may not receive much to eat at home.

With the help from our partners at the School District of Philadelphia, the area’s YCMAs and non-profit organizations, we are able to distribute more than 220,00 brand new winter coats to local children. A warm coat can boost the self-esteem of the child and helps them arrive to school each morning warm and eager to learn.

During the months of October and November, Rafferty Subaru pledges to donate one winter coat to a child in need for each vehicle we sell. This promise is in conjunction with 172 other dealerships in the region and the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation.

At Rafferty Subaru, we are proud to participate in a foundation that offers the gift of a new coat to warm the body and soul of children in need. We are especially grateful for our strong relationship with Operation Warm, as well the areas car dealerships that work collectively to ensure that financial classifications do not define the lives of children living in poverty. We would like to thank the Auto Dealers CARing for Kids Foundation for once again organizing such a wonderful event that helps underprivileged children in our neighborhoods.
