Rafferty Subaru: the history.

The doors opened on 8/1/77 at 4700 West Chester Pike.  The dealership opened as a Pontiac GMC Subaru dealership.


During the early years of Subaru, the store would only sell roughly 4 vehicles a month.  But slowly, over the years, the following for Subaru and the Rafferty Dealership grew.  Mr. Rafferty strives to provide excellent customer services as well as a knowledgeable sales team. 

As time went by the Subaru brand had grown so popular that the decision was made to become just a Subaru dealership.  So on 8/1/02, which was the 25th anniversary of the Rafferty Dealership, it became a one manufacturer dealership.  During the 25th Anniversary year it was a time of great change.  The dealership underwent a complete remodel.  It became bigger and more customer friendly with the expansion of the showroom as well as the updates to the service area.  There is the convenience of the service drop off area, the loaner vehicles that are available to make life easier for our customers, as well as the little things like the coffee and Danish that are available.


On 8/1/14 it marked the 37th year that Rafferty has been in business.  This year also marks the beginning of another renovation.  The Subaru brand and Rafferty Subaru have grown so much that it has come time to add even more service bays, a larger showroom, and more staff to assist in helping the customer.  Now more than 120 new Subarus are sold a month, along with 60-80 used vehicles - it is a busy time at Rafferty!  The service department sees at least 280 cars a week, which is roughly 1,120 a month!  When the renovations are done, there will be an additional 12 bays for service and an increase to 9 service writers.  New sales people will be added as well!


The best part of the Rafferty dealership is that it is a family dealership.  Now the 3rd generation of Raffertys are here to help grow the dealership more.  Mr. Rafferty is still actively working every day.  He is talking to customers; some he has known for years, making sure everyone is helped promptly and will courtesy.  Bob Jr is the Vice President, overseeing the day to day running of the dealership.  Kevin is the Sales Manager that helps the sales people finish working out the details of the vehicle purchase. You can see Jillian in the commercials.  When you come in, you will see little Bob selling vehicles or assisting the finance department.  Some of the staff has been here for over 17 years.  So when a customer returns, whether it is to buy another vehicle or have service work done of theirs, there are familiar faces to see.  The staff is treated like family and they make sure that the customers are treated the same.  Remember it is “All about you at Rafferty Subaru”.   Bob Jr wanted to say, “It is with thankful appreciation to our customers who have stayed with us for 37 years, that we are able to look forward to the future.”
