Remember to Love Your Car, Too! Car Maintenance

Remember when you first saw your spouse? The thrill. The excitement. The attention given. All this was wrapped-up in your early courtship.  As life happened, you both created a normalcy, becoming used to each other and sometimes taking each other for granted.  Yes, you still love one another, you still appreciate one another, but do you show it? That’s one of the beauties of Valentine’s Day.  This day is a moment for reflection and love.   Much like the evolution of a romantic relationship, your relationship with your car often evolves.  In order to maintain our relationships with…

Be Careful This January: Driving Conditions around Philadelphia

January Driving Conditions around Philadelphia

When drivers in Phoenix take a January drive, they have to do several things: make sure the AC in the car is working, bring along some sunscreen, and take quarters so they can buy a glass of lemonade from the kids’ stand set up on the corner.

It’s a little different in Philadelphia in January.

Okay, it’s a lot different.  Winter weather is often treacherous, so drivers have…

Preparing for the Worst: What To Do if You Get Stranded in Your Car

We're moving into the winter months, which means that it's time to start preparing for cold weather driving. Unexpected snow, ice, and cold temperatures can wreak havoc on travel plans, and finding yourself stranded in a blizzard can be a really scary situation.

1. Clear your tailpipe.

If you're stranded in your car and it's winter time and you need to stay warm, the first thing I would make sure of is that the tailpipe is clear in the back. Many times people die from asphyxiation because the carbon monoxide builds up in the vehicle because…

Driving Away the Cold 2016

Once again, Rafferty Subaru participated in the Driving Away the Cold event organized by Auto Dealers CARing for Kids. This is not the first time Rafferty has participated in this wonderful event, which seeks to help donate warm winter coats to those in need in our community.

With the help of our customers, we were able to donate over 200 new winter coats to children in need in the Philadelphia area. These children would not have otherwise had their own new coats, and the initiative believes that financial status should not define whether or not a child gets to wear…

Changes to Expect on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in 2017

As residents of PA, we all depend on the PA Turnpike. Running 360 miles (580 km) across the state, the PA Turnpike is a toll road with 37 exchanges on I-76/I-276 alone and 17 service plazas that we depend upon for road trips and our daily work commutes.

The PA turnpike is a very historical road, officially in service on October 1, 1940. When it was built, planners predicted that 1.3 million vehicles would use the turnpike each year.  In 2015, 198,536,011 vehicles used the PA Turnpike! For an incredibly comprehensive list of interesting Turnpike facts…

The Best Summer Road Trips on the East Coast

Living and growing up in the Delaware Valley, it’s been my experience that every family takes at least one long road trip, exploring the highways up and down the east coast. These are family memories, and they can be wonderful or horrendous, depending on road conditions and weather. For instance, it isn’t very much fun to be stuck in a tent at the beach during a tropical storm, but your kids will have amazing memories of dolphins and wild horses on Assateague Island if the weather is perfect. This post will explore the best and worst highways up…
